Contact Lens Evaluation
NCEENT eye care providers have the ability to fit and manage contact lenses that correct various visual problems including farsightedness, nearsightedness, and irregular corneas resulting in astigmatism and reading error that results in the need of multifocal lenses. We offer these services for patients young and old.
NCEENT offers a unique environment in which any ocular condition that is being followed and managed by our eye doctors can be corrected through the use of contact lenses and will be approached by a team of physicians working towards a solution to correct and maintain vision. Our physicians work closely together to improve the visual outcome following cataract, LASIK, and other refractive surgeries through the use of specialized contact lenses. We also offer specialized corrective and therapeutic contact lens care for traumatic eye conditions. Our cornea specialists will be working directly with the contact lens specialist fitting lenses for keratoconus, irregular astigmatism, dry eye, and other ocular disease as well.
NCEENT doctors correct simple ocular conditions and treat them effectively on a daily basis to correct your contact lens visual needs. We are a medical based private practice that routinely diagnose and treat medical eye disease. These complex conditions are also regularly managed with contact lenses for patients that may require more intricate and specialized care.
Contact Lens Fitting and EvaluationsA comprehensive eye exam must be performed prior to a contact lens fitting. This ensures that the ocular surface is healthy and can support contact lenses. Contact lenses are considered medical devices and are regulated by the FDA. Your doctor understands these regulations and abides by each guideline when fitting and giving instruction for your contact lens wear. Because of these regulations, a comprehensive exam and fitting must be performed before contact lenses can be dispensed and a contact lens prescription is given.
Details of the Fitting:
THE CONTACT LENS FITTING: The corneal map/shape of the eye will be taken into account when selecting the size, curve, diameter, and manufacturer of your contact lens. Your doctor will select the contact lens that provides the best possible vision while maintaining the health of your eyes.
FOLLOW UP EXAMS: Occasionally, follow up appointments are needed to ensure the healthiest fit and vision in your contact lenses. This is most commonly seen in first time wearers, upper level fits, and specialty contact lens fits. Each follow up appointment is included in your evaluation fee up to 90 days.
