Mark W. Scroggs, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology, which includes diagnosis and treatment of corneal diseases, glaucoma and diabetic-related eye problems.

After earning his medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine in 1984, he completed his medical and surgical ophthalmology residency at the Duke University Eye Center. Following his residency, Dr. Scroggs completed a cornea and anterior segment fellowship in New Orleans before returning to North Carolina to begin private practice. In January 2024, Dr. Scroggs joined North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat.

He has published over 50 articles in many respected medical journals and was previously a Duke Medical Center faculty member.

A Durham native, Dr. Scroggs resides in Chapel Hill and stays very busy with his family and practice. When he does find some spare time, he enjoys trap and skeet shooting, playing the piano, and the dobro. He has played collegiate tennis but now has a hard time keeping up with his kids on the court! Dr. Scroggs has volunteered for the Lincoln Community Health Center and the Carrboro Community Health Center.
