Meet Dr. Rodnell Batac: Our New Pediatric Optometrist

"I wanted a career where I could help people see better, protect their vision, and make a real difference in their daily lives," said Rodnell Batac, OD, North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat's new pediatric eye doctor. "I chose to become an optometrist because I've always been fascinated by the connection between vision, health, and quality of life. Eyes are such a small part of the body, but they play such a big role in how we experience the world."
Dr. Rodnell Batac is a pediatric optometrist. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in his hometown of Las Vegas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Psychology and Neuroscience. Dr. Batac went on to complete a residency in Pediatric Optometry and Ocular Disease at the Duke Eye Center in Durham, North Carolina.
"The most rewarding part of my work is helping children see their world more clearly. Whether it's a child putting on glasses for the first time and lighting up when they realize what they've been missing, supporting families through conditions like amblyopia or strabismus, or managing complex cases to protect long-term vision, those moments are incredibly meaningful, "said Dr Batac.
Dr. Batac is passionate about providing compassionate, patient-centered care for children and families. He specializes in pediatric eye care, ocular disease, strabismus and amblyopia management, myopia control, and specialty contact lenses, including care for infants and children with complex visual needs.
"Seeing the joy and confidence that comes when a child can finally read, play, and learn without visual barriers is what inspires me every day," said Dr. Batac.
Dr. Batac sees patients in our North Durham, Chapel Hill, and Cary offices. Call 919-595-2000 to schedule an appointment.
