Botox® is the brand name for a natural, purified protein, Botulinum toxin A, which when injected into facial muscles can smooth and relax facial lines and wrinkles. Injecting extremely small doses of Botox® directly into the hyperfunctional muscles causes them to relax, thereby reducing overlying wrinkles.
Unlike surgery, Botox® is fast, simple, and minimally invasive treatment, with no down time or recovery. Most people return to work or normal activity immediately following treatment. Such changes are largely caused by a loss of hyaluronic acid from these facial tissues. Juvederm is an injectable filler made of hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar that “plumps” skin, providing a smooth and supple appearance by filling in the areas of lost volume. The transparent Juvederm gel is injected with a syringe into the mid- to deep dermis of the face. After 6 to 9 months, the biocompatible compound is naturally absorbed into the body.
